"Planning for and Achieving Your Goals for 2023 with Roslyn Ranse".

Roslyn Ranse:

Hey, Travel Agent Achievers, it's Ros. I can't believe it's already February. And today, we are going to have a chat about a few things planning, organising, and making sure that 2023 is going to be your best ever, or best yet, or wherever you're at. If you're already there and absolutely saw this year, this is going to be a fantastic episode for you. So let's jump straight into it.

Well, it's already February. And if you're like me, you may have taken a little bit of time off in January, or even December, or whenever it was for you. I feel like as though February is now halfway through the year, is that even because I've had a holiday? I'm not sure. But I did take a holiday. I was away for most of January and took a little bit of time off in December as well, had family around. And it didn't actually feel like a holiday to me. The reason for this is that when I travel, I do like to have some downtime, or I do like to have some space around me and the trip that we did as much as I loved it. And don't ask me what my favourite part was. Because there was something that happened every single day that I absolutely loved, that it was full on. And we were on the go the whole time. It was exhausting, but it was fabulous and I didn't actually work that much.

The reason for that was that we've done a whole lot of planning in October, November and December. And I knew that if I didn't stop, I was going to break. If you were anything like me, leading into the end of last year, I just felt as though everything was crazy. I was done. I had I literally had a brain fog where I couldn't think straight at times.

I was still sleeping okay. I was eating okay. Yes, the COVID killers are still being moved. And I'm still working on it just so you know, that's a 2023 goal. But it's not necessarily about any of that. It was really just there was so much that was happening. The borders opened. Everybody decided that they needed to travel, which I love. But it was a lot and continuing with all of those clients and credits, I know that you're like me. That you were probably looking at how you were going and how you were going to manage for 2023.

If you took a break, I am so glad that you did. And if you are back into it now, welcome back!

How are you feeling, though?

Is it like a repeat of 2022?

That it's all the craziness and busyness?

Is it a repeat of 2019? Before anything even happened?

When you were looking at how much work you had on?

And how you were going to handle it all?

Well, I know for us, it's all in the planning. As I said, we spent a lot of time or I did definitely thinking and how are we going to do things. What are the goals that we want to achieve for 2023? We did all of that last year, but now that I'm back. I'm doing it even more.

The reason why I'm doing this is that there are so many things that I want to achieve. And it's not just in our travel business and having a multimillion-dollar sales year. I really, really want to help as many travel advisors as I possibly can. Also, to achieve their goals as well.

So for me having that split focus at times can take a lot out of me. I was just talking to one of my good friends and mentors. A s well as corporate psychologists and friends. Claire cope as I said, I was talking to her and said there's just so much going on. She said you can't split your focus, Ros. You actually have to stay focused on something. I don't want to do that though. This is where my heart is.

So Travel Agent Achievers, I am all in this year, our travel business. I've made a commitment to the clients that we have. I know exactly where that is all going to work.

Our team is incredible. Mayette is about to jump on a plane and she'll be heading out to Australia again and then I know that I'm going to see her many, many times this year, it's going to be a great one.

If you're looking at your travel business right now and thinking, where do I even start Ros? Like it feels like I'm so busy already. But how do I actually make this year work for me? Then I have a couple of things for you. The first thing is a mindset. Towards, it wasn't throughout 2022. I looked at mindset, and I thought this is it's just another buzzword. It's something that people are talking about. Ohh, you've got to have the right mindset and it's all in your head. And I thought, no, we actually need properly qualified and highly intelligent people that can break things down for us and help us through these times when the challenges are real.

So when I talk about mindset, this is why we have our expert, Claire, talk to us inside the Achievers Mmastermind group, she is there every few months. She's going to be joining us a lot more to help every one of us, including on an individual basis, overcome the struggles that we have, or overcome the challenges that come up for us throughout the year. We've just done a Bonus Session. For anyone who would like this on the five challenges to overcome to achieve your goals in 2023. It was a fantastic session. I think throughout it, there were so many "aha moments", and so many of us looking at it going. Oh my gosh, that's me. I do that. Oh, that's three for three. Oh, my goodness. That's okay. But we acknowledged it, we recognised it.

We've now got the tools, tactics, and strategies and you know that the next step, what do we do next? But Claire knows how to break that into a language that we understand. So have a look at your mindset and say, what is it that I want to achieve this year? What are the goals that I really, really want to achieve? What are my non-negotiables? Is it that you want to take a holiday yourself? Or several? Is it that you're putting together particular groups or experiences or you're taking care of certain clients and their needs? What is it that you want to take care of inside your travel business, and then also set yourself some sales goals?

Now, I always say if you don't have sales, you don't have a business, right? And it's very true, we can be spending money. But if we're not making money, you don't have a business. And so looking at your mindset, looking at your sales goals, looking at your marketing opportunities, I want you to come up with a number. And I don't, it's not that I don't care. But I don't mind what that number is because everybody has a different number. So that number, if I'm just talking around numbers, if that number for you this year is to have a million dollars worth of sales generated in your travel business, or you sell a million dollars worth of travel, then break it down. Have that mindset print it out, put it on a notepad, turn it into a screensaver on your computer, put it even put it on a background on your phone, for instance. Because the more you put this out there, the intention is there, you will be looking at it saying what am I going to do to achieve that goal?

When we look at it inside any of our programs, this isn't just the Achievers Mastermind, which is our ongoing program for support and connection. It's also inside our Travel Business Accelerator program, which is opening very shortly. Inside here we look at the big picture.

What is it that you want to achieve with your travel business?

What are all the things that you're doing?

What do you need help with?

What are the tasks that you love?

And what are the things that are holding you back right now?

Where do you need that extra support?

Where do you need to learn?

Or what skills do you need to learn to achieve greatness in those areas?

So having a look at sales, if sales are you're looking at your numbers going, I don't even know how much I've sold, then this is your opportunity to really have a look at it. Go back into your sales figures from last year, and download the reports on what you did. Also, start recording it. Now!

We have a free sales tracker and I will link to it inside the show notes as well for you where it's a very simple Excel spreadsheet or Google sheet because we use Google. Inside here, you can just simply write in the client's name, how much their trip is worth, and how much they've paid, and then you know a little note to say where they're going. Now the reason why I suggest you put these details in there is:

  1. So you can see what the potential sales value will be for the month.
  2. How much you've sold and then also to help you with your marketing in the future.
  3. What are the trips that people are booking?

So if you're looking at your overall sales figures right now, and you haven't even started anywhere, then I suggest you just start writing down what you are selling right now. What is it that you love to sell?

What are people booking?

How much are they spending on their trips, and start working out in the future?

What you can potentially sell or what your goal is? Having that goal out there. So if it's a million-dollar business, then you know, it's less than $100,000 that you need to sell each month. It can get scary, and you go, Oh my gosh, that's $100,000, Ros.

Well, you might be looking at going 100 grand. Yeah, no worries, that's like two trips, or that's just one round-the-world cruise or it might be, you know, 10 business class flights to somewhere who knows, whatever it is for you break it down so that you can see what is achievable.

If you're selling $1,000 holidays, selling $100,000 A month is a big deal. Now, I'm not saying it's not achievable, because it is everything is achievable. But it needs to have a process behind it to say, well, if I'm selling 100 of these $1,000 bookings, how can I make it as easy as possible? Because you don't want to be spending 5 or 10 hours per booking when the volume is going to take up so much more of your time.

So let's start with the mindset around it.  Have a look at the goals.

What is it that you want to achieve?

Is this year the year that you're going to buy a new house?

Or are you looking for a new car?

Or are you looking at having some extra income to take the family away on a trip?

Are you looking at doing your own thing?

Are you looking at investing in your education?

Whatever it is for you put it out there, and write it down. Having a look behind the scenes, though, at your own mental energy and your mindset.

What is going on for you?

Do you think you can do this?

What are the belief systems?

What are the patterns?

What are the things that come up for you?

If this is something that you struggle with - as I said, Claire is absolutely incredible. She has her own program, thought hackers and she was also on episode 63 of our podcast. So go back and listen to that I really highly recommend it. Because there are so many great things that can come out of a conversation or listening to something that can help spur action in you.

So once you've got that the mindset, and the goals, have a look at your past performance, what do you love to do? What's going to give you the energy and excitement and spur you on so that you will take action? What are the goals there to reward yourself? And it's something that I talk about not just inside the achievers, but I do a lot of one on one coaching with small businesses as well. And I run accountability calls for a good friend of mine inside his program. And the accountability calls are really what help people take action because they're accountable to themselves, but they're also accountable to others, we have this and it's an essential part of our program inside the achievers. Because each month, we can come together in a very safe environment. You can share what you've been working on, and what you've achieved a win, win, we don't celebrate the wins enough. And then also share what you're working on. It helps keep you accountable and help keeps other people accountable. And that community then really helps you move forward a lot faster as well. So doing what you love having that accountability, that is there too.

Now if you're feeling the moment, the overwhelm, the busyness, and the struggle. You haven't got enough hours in a day, then it's okay to have those feelings and emotions. But what are you going to do to move forward? Is it that you need to be writing out a to-do list or using tools on the computer like the Pomodoro Technique to set yourself some time management and say, right, I'm going to work on this for the next 20 minutes. And then it's done. What are the things that you need? What do you need to break down? I suggest you go back and listen to episode 63 with Claire and then take action. So you What do you need to stop doing? What do you need to start doing? Or what do you need to continue to do as you reach these goals this year? There are so many, many things. There are a lot of resources out there. There's a lot of noise. And when I look at my own business and I look at myself I had somebody asked me the other day. Ros, I really want to undertake some education this year. I just don't know what to do.

So for me, what I do is, I look at my own skill set. I look at where I want to take my business and then I say what is the fastest way for me to get from here to there and who do I need to work with? Who is the expert in this area that can help me actually achieve that goal?

So when I look at the travel business, for instance, and our programs, we have our travel business accelerator, which is really going to help you look at your vision, your goals, who do you want to work with. How do you find these clients? What sort of marketing do you need to do in order to attract the right clients? And then what systems and processes do you need inside your business to help you get out of the doing, or to do the things that you love, and allow yourself the opportunity to grow your business without all of the extra overwhelming and busyness and noise or impostor syndrome, or whatever comes up for you? The "self-sabotage", it could be the time management, it could be? What do you need in your business in order to help you either grow? Or to get back your time to learn about money? I'm surprised, not surprised because it's not something that's new. The amount of people that don't understand the finances inside their business.

The first thing that we did when the pandemic hit looked at our cash flow. How long can we survive in our travel business without having to get a second job or without letting our clients down? Having an understanding of business really helps you actually take control of your life, take control of your business, and our travel business accelerator program. That's exactly what it does. It gives you the insight, the tools, the tactics, the tips, I have spreadsheets, and worksheets and video lessons, step by step how to use to give you the best opportunity to move forward as fast as you want. And you can do this program in two months. What I'm doing this year is actually going to walk you through it together, so that you can complete and achieve what you want to. And then we also have our achievers mastermind, which is the ongoing support. Each month, we dive into one topic. And as I look at it for this year, our mastermind members have told me this is what I really, really want. Ros? So at the moment, we are looking at the planning, we are looking at how to implement our sales and marketing plan. What are the tools? What are the resources and what's the action we need to take in order to achieve those sales and marketing goals this year, if we don't put a plan in place now will forever be fumbling and moving forward and not knowing what action to take? So spending a little bit of time on planning now is going to help you in the future.

The other things that we're going to be working on. So in March, for instance, we're working on visibility, where are we going to be seen this year? How are we going to get our voice out there to either our networks, our ideal clients, the media, or whatever it is for you, how are you going to become known? We did this last year. And it's one of the things that I absolutely love because I now regularly see our Achievers Mastermind members inside travel publications with their story, their histories with their backgrounds, and the things that they're achieving, they are the ones that are called for comments. And I love that. So this month, or in March, we'll be focusing on getting seen. We're then working on groups and the marketing of groups. So last year, we worked on the systems behind it. And if you want access to any of this, all you need to do is join the Achievers Mastermind. We'll then look at our client retention, surprising and delighting them, and staffing. We've got branding and organising our marketing assets, preparing for big sales months. So as I said before, sales is an incredibly important part of the business. And so what we're going to do is I'm going to give you all the things that we do in order to prepare and get organised for a very big sales month. And we're doing that in August because in October this year is Cruise month.  I want everybody to succeed if they are selling cruises, or just planning for a really big sales month. We've also got project management, we've got plans, we've got a whole lot in here. One of the quotes that I love is "to find the drip and fix the leak".

So if you're thinking my business has a few things that are leaking or dripping right now. Let's find what that is for you. Plug the hole fix the leak and make sure that you are ready to soar this year.

I believe in you. I am here as I said I am committed to making everything work this year for you. I'm available and I'm ready to see you soar.
