So Much Love

How’s your perspective on things in your travel business lately? Last week's episode really resonated with so many of you. It was like a fresh wave of fear, anxiety and frustration came out of nowhere. It was like a shift happened - tough client decisions and conversations were had, new refunds, cancellations, changes. You name it, it was one of those weeks. 

Was there something happening in the cosmos? I don't know. But do know how it shook a lot of us.

This week was a NEW shift! It felt so much better. I'm currently working with an amazing bunch of Travel Consultants in the 6 Week Rebuild your travel business program. We are halfway through the program working together live each week. It’s been incredible.  Not only have each of them made incredible progress with the foundations of their businesses, but they have also had some incredible wins! Each consultant is in the exact place they need to be. No one is left behind and we have laughed and cried together. 

The program and community are supportive, collaborative, educational but also the perfect timing for where each and every one of them are right now. One of these amazing consultants said to me this week - the program was the perfect fit for travel consultants as the program only HAS travel consultants in it. It’s a business program that is customised, makes sense and has the content that relates to exactly what they need! It was exactly what I want for the Travel Community - it’s why I have focused on the industry. I LOVE this program and the people that are in it!

Gratitude is a change of state of mind. It’s really important when we have been kicked in the guts to be able to set aside those thoughts and come to a different place. 

How is this all linked? We have been working with our clients and showing them love, sharing the love and coming from a place of thankfulness and gratitude. The last 2 weeks have been a huge shift for so many in the program. 

It’s now time for you to show up to your clients. Not only as someone who is an expert in travel but someone who genuinely cares about them as well.

Ros: Hey there, welcome back to another episode of Travel Agent Achievers. I'm Ros. I'm your host. And today I have a very special episode just for you. As I want to tell you how much you are loved.

 

This episode came about because last week, the podcast that I recorded was just one of those weeks and it really resonated with a number of you around the tough times that were going through again in the travel industry, whether you have experienced tough clients again, or being challenged by some new refunds or cancellations or postponements and it's felt like that there's another wave that has really happened. 

 

The podcast resonated with so many of you because you reached out to me and just let me know that it was what you needed to hear. That things were going to be okay that you are okay. But I wanted to talk about as I did this week with our group in the current Travel Agent Achievers Six-Week Rebuild Your Travel Business Program.

 

We're talking about our existing clients last week, but also new clients this week, and what we can do to really take care of our clients right now. So I wanted to talk to you about sharing the love, showing how much you care about other people that also talk about gratitude. 

 

Gratitude for me, is a change of state of mind. It's something that we've been discussing, because I think it's really important when we're feeling the struggles or we're feeling the challenges that are going all around us to be able to put those thoughts on hold and come to a different place. 

 

Now, for me, I have been working on gratitude over the last six months really reassessing my own travel business, and looking at the things that have happened, but how much I actually appreciate the work that has come to me over the last 12-15 years in the travel industry, the clients that have trusted me with their money, with my knowledge with my experience, but also just to take care of them on one of their most precious things that they've purchased being a vacation holiday, a business trip, whatever it might be, but it is, and it can be a really big deal for a lot of people. 

 

So I wanted to talk about gratitude, because I think it's really important for us right now, to reassess this part of our own lives.

 

Why do we even need to have this as part of business? I have seen this for myself, as I said, when I was getting kicked in the guts and the challenges that came about day after day, back in, you know, February, March, April, continuously, and now the resurgence again, as we start to make further changes and plans for our clients that had potentially moved to their bookings towards the end of, you know, 2020.  And that's all starting to happen.

 

So why do I even think that we need to have gratitude in our business? Pure and simple we are in relationships with our clients, we build relationships so that they come back and book with us time and time again. 

 

And it can also just really change our mindset. When you're feeling down. When things have been really tough. If you can change things up a little bit, flick a switch, write a thank you card to somebody or let somebody know that you are thinking about them, which I know is genuine for you.

 

This comes from a different place in your body, and your heart and the thankfulness that you can show to somebody else will then come back to you tenfold. And I always talk about referrals and repeat business being a big part of your own travel business right now showing the gratitude to a client a past client,  somebody has previously invested their time, money and effort with you, which you've then taken care of them as well. 

 

But really just showing how much you appreciate that opportunity will come back to you. And it's strengthening these relationships that you've had previously, you've still got now, you may have felt like you've disappeared over the last couple of months.

 

And I'm thinking that you may not have done a whole lot of Facebook Lives, you may not have gone and had the coffees that you would generally have with your clients, you may not have reached out as much as you used to. So now is a really good opportunity to pick all that back up and really start moving on with your business.

 

I just want to share a couple of results that we've had within our 6-Week Rebuild Program and I'm keeping this really short and sweet this week because I want you to take action. 

 

One of the wonderful travel agents in our group, Kerstin, she put together or took one of our suggestions. And I spoke about this in Episode 27. If you haven't heard it, go back and listen to it. 

 

It's an episode about a programme called Bonjoro. And I interviewed the owner and founder, Matt, and we had a discussion about what is Bonjoro but why we needed in our businesses, and really it's a tool for connecting you with your clients in a very easy to do format. 

 

And yes, it's video, it's sending your clients a very short video message. So we'll link to that in the show notes but it's Episode 27

So Kerstin, went out got a cell phone juror cam. In the last week alone, she has sent 31 bondora video messages to her existing clients. The results from that she's got close to 90% of people that are opening and watching these videos and then replying to her. 

 

And one of the biggest wins from that was that one of the clients has booked a trip for 2021 with her now that's amazing and a win that we should all be celebrating. And I am so proud of Kerstin and the work that she's doing within the programme. 

 

But also the fact is she's taking action. She is not afraid to actually step out of her comfort zone, put on her big girl pants as I say to you and really just keep moving forward. So that is one thing.

 

For another one about Achievers in Travel members, Annette. So she reached out to some suppliers. She's put together these beautiful gift boxes, which haven't cost her a whole lot of money. And I know that that's a big deal right now, what we can actually do for our clients when we've got no money coming in, right? 

 

So she reached out to a number of different suppliers. She's got a couple of little things in these gift packs. Now Annette runs destination weddings. And what's beautiful about this is she is now able to send out, you know, around 30 gift packs to the brides and grooms that we're going to be travelling to Thailand.

 

Now you're asking me you saying to me, Roz, why would I even invest that sort of money? Well, I can tell you right now, coming from a place of gratitude and sending out these gift boxes. What Annette is going to get in return and I saw in my own travel business as well was a flood of messages coming back just people saying, you know her past clients that will be saying things like, how they can't believe she thought of them at a time like this and how grateful they are that she took the time to send a personalised message to put together a gift pack and send something to them when they aren't even able to travel right now. 

 

Now, this is building the relationship. It's building rapport. It's strengthening things for the future for her. But it is also helping her change her own mindset and come from a different place. 

 

We've all been on this massive roller coaster, and to be able to smile and laugh at ourselves right now is such a beautiful thing. We saw that earlier this week within our Six-Week Programme. So if you're interested in that, I'll tell you about it later. 

 

But a number of us travel agents were able to come together not only brainstorm and work on our business look at ways to get new clients in the future and also take care of our existing clients. 

 

But we're able to laugh and have fun, and brainstorm and really come together in a collaborative and supportive way to show that we are united, we can be there to support each other, and also give each other ideas and opportunities where in the past, we may have seen each other as competition. 

 

And I have said this to those in the group and I'll say this to you now, being part of the Travel Agent Achiever community is about collaboration over competition.

 

I have always believed that there is enough business to go around and I believe that there will be when we get through this time together. But you need to have a supportive group around you people that understand people that get you and your business to really be able to hunker in and get the job done. 

 

Really work on your business in ways that makes sense to you. And makes sense to the travel industry. And that's what Travel Agent Achievers is about. So what can you do right now, like for me, I am so thankful that you are here listening to the podcast, you are taking action, you've joined our Achievers in Travel Facebook Group.  

 

If you haven't done that, please do so. Because I want to work with travel agents who want to come through this time. I am willing to put the work in to bring as many of you through if you're willing to put the work in as well and take action. 

 

I don't want to leave anybody behind that really wants this to be their thing. You'd love travel for such a long time. Now. I get it. I know it and I am there with you. You will be able to get through this stronger than ever before. And one of those steps is by showing gratitude to the clients that you've had. So what can you do? 

 

Well, we're all humans. We all like relationships and connections and collaborative approaches with each other. But the point is the fact that you have the opportunity right in your hands to make a phone call to one of your clients and just say, how are you?

 

It isn't unique. It's nothing to you.

 

But it is an opportunity that you have to build that relationship to strengthen it for the future. Clients want to know that you will still be there. As you we come through this time. They want to know that their money is safe. If they've got credit with you. They want to know that you are okay as well.

 

It doesn't have to turn into a two hour conversation. I'm not saying that. But it really is important that you build some sort of connection and relationship with them. You need to be able to smile and by giving a smile to somebody else, telling them you know that they're going to be okay as well. is really important.

And one of the important things that you need to do is connect him with a network that gets you that understands you and that's going to be there to work with you through every step of the way.
